Everyone tells us we should have a morning routine, and for good reason. A good morning routine can really help to set you up for an amazing and positive day ahead. Think of it as your priming routine to help you combat ANYTHING that comes your way.

Remember though, what works for someone, may not necessarily work for you. Curate your own morning routine and do what feels right and natural for YOU! We're not saying you have to do ALL of these things every single day.

Remember though, what works for someone, may not necessarily work for you. Curate your own morning routine and do what feels right and natural for YOU! We're not saying you have to do ALL of these things every single day.

So with that said, here are our favourite ways to create your best morning routine yet!

Give yourself time by waking up a little earlier

There’s nothing worse than waking up and realising you have about 20 minutes (or less) to get ready. Train your brain to wake up earlier to allow at least half an hour for caring for yourself before you give to the world.

If you have trouble waking up, set your alarm to begin with. A little trick we always like to use is to tell ourselves the night before exactly what time we’re going to wake up the next day. 90% of the time, we end up waking up exactly when we want to.

Don’t Jump Straight Onto Social Media

This is probably the WORST thing you can do and is a really bad morning routine to get into. We highly recommend to check out this youtube video here that will explain exactly WHY you shouldn’t be jumping on social media straight away.

It’s all to do with the state of your brain and jumping on social media first thing, you’re training your brain to be reactive, which we don’t want to do.

Practice Gratitude During Your Morning Routine

A non-negotiable for your morning routine. Write down at least 5 things you’re grateful for! Each and every morning. Practicing gratitude allows you to become thankful for so many things in your life you may take for granted.

Those who practice gratitude consistently notice more positive emotions, they sleep better, are more compassionate and kind as they’re attracting MORE of these good things into their lives by being thankful.

Hydrate and Make Yourself A Coffee/Tea

Hydrating first thing is super important to help us release toxins, put some fluid back into our bodies, and get the brain going. At least 500ml first thing in the morning is recommended. That’s just ONE Aera Bottle worth of water to drink.

Fill up your Aera Bottle the night before and place it on your bedside table ready to go in the morning as soon as you wake up. If you then want to, go ahead and make yourself your morning cup of coffee or tea.

Meditate

Practicing some deep breathing and calming your mind can help you enter the day with clarity. If you’re someone who struggles to meditate, don’t start with 20 minutes a day. Simply pop on some meditation music and do 5 minutes of deep breathing. If you find yourself thinking too much, bring your focus back to your breath.

Pamper Yourself!

We all want glowing skin! And that starts with a good skincare routine. Also, washing your face will help you wake up in the morning and is the first thing we do when we wake up. Grab your cleanser, favourite serum and moisturiser and indulge in a mini pamper sesh.

Stretch the Body and Move

If heading to the gym first thing in the morning is your thing, use this period to really focus on the each movement of the body. In other words, be mindful and conscious of how your body moves. Be grateful for having a body that can move so freely.

Otherwise, if you’re not a morning workout person, spend a couple of minutes stretching the body and waking it up.

Recite your Positive Affirmations

Reciting your affirmations as part of your morning routine can give you confidence, make you feel good, and help you approach the day with a positive attitude. What we repeatedly tell ourselves, we become. Some of our favourites are:

“I have the power to accomplish everything I need to do today”
“Every cell in my body vibrates with good energy”
“I will not let the behaviour of others destroy my inner peace”
“I deserve everything I desire, and I make everything I desire a reality”
